Who We Are

We believe in sharing our passion for the outdoors with everyone, through unparalleled insight and expertise. We want to provide an opportunity for you to experience the outdoors on your terms, whether it's day hiking on the 251 miles of trail in Golden, Colorado, spending multiple nights out in the backcountry of some of the country's most beautiful landscapes, or attending community-focused retreats. We hope the energy and excitement you feel with us on trail makes you that much more excited to pursue more time and experiences in the outdoors. All of Rocky Mountain Hiking Company's guides are certified in Wilderness First Aid or higher and CPR, and we follow Leave No Trace Principles. Scholarships are available.

Life is far from perfect, but each time we get on trail, it sure feels pretty darn close.

About The Owner, Carly Moree

Carly Moree was the first woman to attempt the men's unsupported record on the 223-mile John Muir Trail/Nüümü  Poyo. She is the co-author of the popular thru-hiking book Pacific Crest Trials, and has hiked and run thousands of miles on trails, including the Grand Canyon rim to rim to rim, both the Pacific Crest Trail and Appalachian Trail, and the Tahoe Rim Trail. Her work is featured in REI and Larabar and she is the co-host of the Appalachian Mountain Club's podcast Unlikely Stories. She is an outdoor consultant, author, writer, and endurance athlete. Carly is passionate about providing coaching and workshops centered around helping others step into their full abilities on trail (and in life) through hiking, backpacking, and running. Carly can (mostly) be found living in Golden, Colorado.
